About

Welcome to Kamooni!

If you found your way to this page, you'll be one of our Test Pilots helping us make Kamooni the best possible platform for Changemakers and their communities alike. As a Test Pilot, your experiences, ideas, and feedback will directly influence how Kamooni grows. You’ll get early access to new features, be part of a community of changemakers, and help us build a space for trust-based collaboration, map-based discovery, and community-owned governance.

Your Mission Brief

#1 - We'll be posting updates and more in this circle, so please join as a Follower and you'll get these updates in the "For You" space.

#2 - If you encounter any bugs or other issues, please log these under the Issues tab. You'll be able to add images, so please take a screenshot and add this if this helps to illustrate the issue.

#3 - If you would like to see more features or other improvements, please add these under the Proposals tab. Before adding a proposal, check to see if someone else hasn't already added it. You'll be able to comment on proposals and vote for them here. You are also welcome to add images to your proposals.

#4 - Create a circle and invite some friends for a shared mission! The best way to make sure that Kamooni can deliver the goods is to use it for delivering goods. Trying to use Kamooni in the same way you'd use another platform to coordinate a project or manage a community is the fastest way to become familiar with the platform and to detect it's shortfalls. And the sooner we detect and resolve the issues, the sooner we can launch Kamooni officially.

#5 - Become a Member. This is not a requirement, of course, just helping us out as a Test Pilot is hugely appreciated, but as Kamooni will be financed by members, this gives us an extra boost as well as an estimate of how many users ill become members, which will help us calculate our budget.

Though we want to avoid tiers, there are a few natural perks. First off, as a member you get access to the Member Circle where you get to be part of the governance of Kamooni. You get to vote on our roadmap and the rules of engagement. When we launch officially we'll have a waiting list as we'll only be able to take on so many users at once, but as a paying member, you'll get to invite friends who can skip the queue. Finally, though this will take some time to finance and implement, you'll receive Altruistic Dividends, that is, your share of any profit we make, that you'll be able to allocate to the projects of your choice on Kamooni.

Down the line, it will be possible to become a full member by other means, such as volunteering for projects, but for now, your pledge really makes a difference.

#6 - Contribute in other ways. This is an open-source and community-led mission that is completely dependent on voluntary efforts. If you'd like to help us put, we'd love to have you! There are a number of areas we could use some extra hands. Obviously, we'd love to grow our developer team, and to add someone with UX-expertise as well as designers in general. If marketing is your thing, yup, we'd love your help there too. Do you have a talent for fundraising? Bring it on! Are you more community oriented and would like to help us build and maintain a strong community? Awesomeness! That is really what Kamooni is all about. Whatever you got that you'd like to share, just reach out an we'll talk!

#7 - Finally, we'll be hosting regular open sessions on Tuesdays at 16:00. These will include updates, workshops around new features, showcase projects and change makers, and will be a chance to meet the team, introduce yourself and make your voice heard. Follow this page and you'll get invites and updates in your feed.

About Kamooni

Kamooni is an open-source (MIT-licensed) web application developed by Social Systems Lab. It is designed as a community-building and action-oriented platform for change makers—people who seek to co-create, contribute, and organize within grassroots initiatives. By focusing on discovery, collaboration, and democratic governance, MakeCircles aims to eliminate the typical distractions found in advertising-based social media platforms. Instead, it provides a toolkit for users to align around shared causes, projects, and missions both locally and globally.

Kamooni's purpose is to provide a comprehensive toolkit for changemakers to discover like-minded individuals and groups, collaborate on projects, and govern their initiatives democratically. By combining a map-based user interface, a “tinder-like” discovery experience, robust feed and chat functionalities, and granular permission controls, we aspire to simplify the path from community-building to real-world action.

Whether your ambition is to launch a neighborhood project, form a study group, or organize a global movement, Kamooni will offer offers a flexible framework that encourages inclusivity, self-sovereign participation, and engagement incentives, all aimed at fostering positive societal impact.

We're thrilled and grateful that you are helping us make all this possible.

Thanks,

Team Kamooni
